Bristol Carer Service
Carer support
Often the person you are supporting is a family member such as a partner, wife, husband, son, daughter or a friend. Whether or not you think you are a ‘carer’, support is available. We help over 200 people a year across Bristol who are looking for advice, support or information.
What can I expect?
We offer an initial phonecall with a member of staff who is specialised in understanding the complexities of caring for someone with a mental illness. We are experienced in working with people from different communities and backgrounds, and respond to your individual needs. We can book an interpreter.
We provide:
• Carers assessments & breaks, we are Trusted Assessors for Bristol City Council.
• Individual support
• Practical advice, referral to specialised money and mental health advice
• Group support (online and in person) and social walks
• Education seminars and courses
• Bulletins with mental health news and a quarterly newsletter
• Facilitated family meetings
• Liaison with mental health professionals
• Individual and group support for families using specialised and secure services
