Rethink Mental Illness provide psychological therapy, namely IAPT Step 1 and 2 services, in line with national best practice, for prisoners in the following North East Prisons - HMP Durham, HMP Frankland, HMP Holme House, HMP Northumberland, HMYOI Deerbolt, HMP Kirklevington Grange and HMP & YOI Low Newton.
Focusing on health education and self-help, we provide evidence based, low intensity interventions, based on CBT principles which focus on empowerment and self-management of common mental illnesses while in custody and on release.

Rethink Mental Illness also provide a mental health care navigator service, supporting patients six-eight weeks prior to release and up to one month after release, following people’s care and ensuring the best possible chance for successful release, both in terms of reducing reoffending and stability of their mental health.
