Rethink Sahayak has been offering a cluster services that are unique and culturally sensitive to the Ethnic Minoritised communities for 28 years, since it was first established in 1996. ‘Sahayak’ in Hindi language means ‘helpful’.
The service currently offers both emotive and practical support through its one-to-one support focusing on helping individuals achieve their goals within Dartford, Gravesham, Swanley and Ashford.
Based on its track record of delivering specialist BAME services, the service has expanded to deliver Refugee Resettlement Support in Kent since 2015. The service funding comes from the Home Office into the council which then is awarded to Rethink.
Rethink Sahayak also offers group support known as the ‘Sangam Group’, which is peer led, and volunteer run. The group helps members to combat isolation and engage in activities which are mentally stimulating and positive to their overall wellbeing. Sahayak services empower individuals and support their overall self-esteem and confidence, which in turns supports their mental health recovery.
