Share your story

Thank you for your interest in sharing your story! Rethink Mental Illness is the leading authority on severe mental illness in England. Through our media and campaigning work, we aim to amplify the voices of those we support. If you are interested in sharing your experiences via the media or our online channels then we'd like to hear from you.

We are especially looking for people with a diagnosis of severe mental illness or people who care for those who do. This includes people with experience of:

  • Schizophrenia
  • Psychosis
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Personality disorder

We are also looking for people who are willing to share their experience of the challenge of having, or caring for someone with severe mental illness during the current cost of living crisis.

We’re particularly keen to hear from people who have been through our groups and services (e.g. supported housing, carers support groups, advocacy services etc).

There are many ways that you can get involved with our work and you can do as little or as much as you like. These include:

  • Sharing your story on social media
  • Sharing your story on our website
  • Speaking to the local / national press
  • Appearing as part of our fundraising appeals
  • Being profiled in our members magazine

Things to note before you email

  • We do not link to blogs or stories that are hosted away from our own site
  • It is not possible to for us to host guest blogs or paid for content
  • We are unable to advertise or endorse books
  • We ask that stories used on our channels have not appeared online or elsewhere

We do our best to reply to everyone but we’re currently receiving a lot of emails and we may not always be able to answer all the requests we receive.  However,  if we think there might be a good opportunity for us to work together we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

If you would like to get involved, please get in touch with us by submitting this form.
