Members' Day 2024
In November we held our 2024 Members' Day on a hybrid basis. National Members’ Day is our bi-annual day for all members to hear inspiring speakers from across the mental health sector, find out more about our work as a charity and to meet and spend valuable time with other members.
Our 2024 theme was Culture, diversity and the intersection with mental health.

Professor Femi Oyebode
Psychiatrist Professor Femi Oyebode, University of Birmingham joined us as our morning keynote speaker. His talk, Memoirs of the Mind in Disquiet, explored the work of various authors to illustrate the nature of the subjective experience of human distress. He also discussed the rituals of psychiatric institutions and the relationship between people in hospital and clinicians, with the overall aim of his talk to show the benefits of humanities to medicine.

Dr Zoe Swithenbank
In the afternoon we were joined by Dr Zoe Swithenbank who is a Senior Research Associate at Lancaster University, as well as a Rethink Group coordinator and member of our Lived Experience Advisory Board. Dr Swithenbank shared research findings on different treatment pathways for people with co-occurring mental health and alcohol problems, drawing on involvement of people with lived experience.

Expert by Experience Panel Discussion
In the middle of the day we hosted our first ever panel discussion and Q&A. We were joined by members of our Carers' Advisory Board, Debbie Best, Raj Gill-Harrison and Urvashi Desai, as well as Sarah Markham from our Lived Experience Advisory Board and Katie Foulser, our Associate Director for place-based delivery. The panel explored our theme of Culture, diversity and the intersection with mental health

Awards Ceremony
We closed the day with our annual Pringle and Janey Antoniou Awards ceremony. It was wonderful to hear about the fantastic work our supporters do and celebrate their achievements. We also showcased all Pringle Award submissions this year in our Calm Room.
