  • Wakefield Rethink Carers Group

Services and Groups |Last updated: 17/06/2024

We are pleased to announce our group is meeting once again after a period of suspension due to COVID. Our Wakefield Carers group has been meeting for several years now. We are a friendly group that meets once a month in an afternoon. We offer a safe, relaxing space for people caring for someone with mental illness to share what sort of month they've had. This typically leads to members offering support and encouragement to each other. We never put pressure on anyone to share. We just offer the space for people to do so freely and without judgement, so our members feel less isolated and more supported. As we meet in an afternoon, we provide a simple lunch buffet with tea and coffee that we can enjoy together while we talk. On occasions, we also arrange social outings outside our regular meetings. New members are warmly welcome, but please do contact us before attending.

  • Salisbury Rethink Carers Support Group

Services and Groups |Last updated: 24/05/2024

May 2024: Do you support or care for a partner, child, family member or friend with a mental illness and want to talk to someone in a similar situation? It may be that you’re feeling a little isolated and seeking some support and respite for yourself. Whatever it is, our voluntary led peer support groups may be able to help. They offer a safe, confidential, friendly, and welcoming space, where members can share their experiences without judgement from others. That’s because you’re amongst people that share similar experiences to you, who understand what you’re going through and the challenges that often arise when trying to access support for those you support and care for. In addition to being a place to receive mutual peer support, and encouragement, the groups can offer further information and signposting to services that may be able to offer further support to you in your caring role, and the person you support or care for. If you would be interested in being involved with such a group or would like to see a group for carers running in Salisbury or any of the surrounding areas, then please contact the Southwest Community Group Development Officer, Dominique Toyra, on the contact details above.

  • COPE: Carers of Psychosis Experiencers

Services and Groups |Last updated: 04/06/2024

COPE is a voluntary led peer-support group for families, friends, and carers of people with serious mental health illness who experience psychosis. Our group offers a safe, non-judgemental, and welcoming environment where members can meet to share experiences, signpost each other to other services and look after their well-being. We meet once a month and offer support and encouragement to one another in a respectful, confidential, and supportive space. To be heard is valuable. There is a car park at the centre, though there are not many parking spaces. The centre recommends those who are unable to walk more than a short distance park there and all others can park in the adjoining Cricketfield Car Park – this is a Pay and Display Long Stay carpark which is connected to the centre car park via a short footpath. The centre is a 13 min walk from Newton Abbot railway station and is well connected by buses. The group meets in the Yellow Room. There is provision for making hot drinks and refreshments in a small kitchenette and tea and coffee will be provided but members will be advised to bring their own lunch if required. Please drop us a line on the group email to find out more – we look forward to meeting you!
