Grief and bereavement support – Mental health help

If you are experiencing bereavement and grief, it can affect your mental health. This page links to resources that you might find helpful. It is for people who are 18 and over and live in England who are experiencing bereavement and grief.

Our charity partner Mental Health UK have developed useful advice and information on Grief and bereavement that you can find here.

Grief is a natural feeling we have when we lose someone or something that really matters to us. It often shows up as deep sadness or emotional pain.

The Mental Health UK resource looks at the grief we feel after the death of someone close, like a loved one or a good friend.

But grief can also happen in other situations — like losing a pet, saying goodbye to a partner, or even when someone you admire from afar passes away.

Whatever the reason, your feelings are valid. Grief looks different for everyone, and that’s okay.

The Mental Health UK resource covers:

  • What is grief?
  • How might grief affect me?
  • What are the symptoms of grief?
  • What are the stages of grief?
  • Where can I get emotional support?
  • Accessing professional support
  • Looking after yourself
  • Useful contacts
  • Frequently asked questions
