Meet Oli, Toby and Reece - Mind over Miles challenge

22 September 2025

Oliver Graves, Toby Graves, and Reece Gayler took on the ambitious Mind Over Miles challenge in May, tackling 8 marathons in 8 days from Swansea to Brighton in memory of their friend, Ben Cummings. They ran approximately 45km each day during the event, and raised a phenomenal sum of over £12,000.

The lads explained how meaningful the event was: “We are trying to turn pain into purpose,” said Ollie. “We want to use this challenge to show that it is okay for men to feel emotional, to be vulnerable, and to admit when they are struggling.

“Training for this challenge has already changed my life,” added Reece. “Getting up early to train as a group has given us space to talk about what we’re going through, what we’re excited about, and gain real clarity before the working day begins.”

  • We ran for Ben, but we also ran for every man struggling in silence

Their route started and ended at Ben’s two home golf clubs, and friends cheered them along at various points of their route. Ollie continued: “It has been overwhelming, from the donations to the sponsors, to the strangers who clapped us on through quiet villages. We felt Ben with us the whole time, and I truly hope we’ve done him proud.”

Reece explained: “The kindness and support we received was just unbelievable. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who donated, sponsored, ran with us, or cheered us on.”

The incredible sum of over £12,000 they were able to raise during the event will go a long way in our mission to support everyone living with mental illness. A huge thank you and well done to Ollie, Toby and Reece for completing such an amazing challenge!

One of the best things about community fundraising is the range of activities people organise and engage in to raise money for our cause. We have seen events such as hosting a tattoo artist, live music events, and support from sponsored sporting events.
