advice and helplines

WHAT IS PERINATAL MENTAL HEALTH? - You might feel sad, hopeless or unable to cope. Many people experience this before or during pregnancy, or in the first 2 years after becoming a parent. But if these feelings last longer than 2 weeks or have a big impact on your day-to day life then you could need help with your perinatal mental health.

WHO IS THE HELPLINE FOR? - Anyone can experience perinatal mental health problems. This includes mums, dads, partners and carers in Kent and Medway. So, if things don't feel quite right, talk to us.

HOW DO I GET IN TOUCH - Call 0800 107 0160 and press Option 2, or send us a webchat by clicking on the purple webchat box on the right hand side of your screen, this will only be visible when we are open.

HOW OFTEN CAN I CALL? - You can call or webchat the helpline for 30 minutes maximum and you can call or webchat us once in a 3 day period. If you need more frequent support than this, then we will be able to signpost you to other forms of support.

WHEN ARE YOU OPEN? - Rethink Mental Illness is taking over delivering the Perinatal Mental Health Helpline from the 1/7/24. Our perinatal helpline team will be available to support you on the following hours: Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 9am to 5pm and Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 3pm-11pm.

You can still receive support outside of these hours, through our Main helpline, by selecting option 1.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST? - The helpline phone number is free to call from landlines and mobiles and webchat is free to use from any laptop, tablet or mobile.
