The Sheffield Crisis House provides short term support to individuals experiencing acute mental health crisis. The service is accessible to adults aged 18 and above, and has 6 beds with communal areas such as kitchen, lounge, and garden. The service is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and staff work in partnership with Sheffield Health and Social Care. Individuals can seek emotional support and guidance throughout their crisis and utilise staff to help develop or re-engage with coping strategies, and daily activities. Support is always person-centred and designed to improve the safety and wellbeing of the individual. Referrals to the Crisis House can be made via community mental health teams (CMHTs) and directly from Liaison Psychiatry at the hospital. In the community:The IMHA service will work with qualifying patients who are under Supervised Community Treatment (CTOs) and live within the Barnsley Metropolitan Council Local Authority boundaries. In hospital and secure settings:We will work with any patient who is detained under the Mental Health Act (qualifying sections) within the Barnsley Metropolitan Council Local Authority area. This includes qualifying patients who are placed in hospitals or other secure settings within the Barnsley boundaries, but do not otherwise live in the area. The advocates will work with the clients to ensure that they understand their rights, understand any treatments being discussed and have a say in discussions about their care. If the patient has been assessed as lacking capacity to instruct an advocate, we will use Non-instructed Advocacy to ensure that the client is still at the centre of all care planning and decisions. The service is free to access and is independent from all other services
